Council is working closely with the community to build strategies that enhance our quality of life, promote sustainable development and protect our environment.

The Northern Beaches produces approximately two million tonnes of C02 a year, with electricity consumption responsible for approximately 56% of that. Our community has already begun to embrace renewable energy, but collectively we need to do more.

With this in mind we're hosting a Net Zero Expo: Solar, Energy, EV and Circular Economy, offering a free festival for residents and local businesses.

Venue: Narrabeen Tramshed Community Centre and Berry Reserve
Sunday 2 June 2024, 10am - 4pm

The Expo is designed to empower residents and businesses with sufficient knowledge from industry experts and build confidence so they can electrify their homes and businesses utilising renewable energy. Stalls and presentations will allow locals to enter into conversations with solar suppliers, EV retailers, researchers and community groups etc., to make the switching to electrification easier.

We're seeking stallholders from businesses, government, industry and community reps to provide resources to motivate and educate the community on the financial and environmental benefits to taking action towards becoming a net zero community (household and / or business).

The overall objective is to increase awareness and uptake of solar, energy efficiency, EVs for our local community in order to meet Council’s community net zero and solar targets (according to Council’s Environment and Climate Change Strategy 2040):

  1. reducing carbon emissions in our community by more than half by 2040
  2. 50% of suitable premises with solar panels installed by 2030
  3. achieving net zero emissions by 2050

Scope and eligibility

We are inviting proposals from suitably experienced and qualified community groups, organisations and suppliers to host an information stall at our upcoming expo on one or more of the following topics:

  1. Solar PV and Batteries; and Recycling (for homes and / or businesses)
  2. EV and e-bikes
  3. Electrification (converting from gas to electric in the home / business).
