Sustainability and Community projects are an important part of our Northern Beaches Council Vacation Care. We involve our children, families and educators in practising environmentally sustainable actions and in activities that link with community.
We have links with Dee Why Gardens Retirement Village, Hardi Aged Care, and Bupa Seaforth. Children engage in activities that connect with their older friends in the community; visiting them, welcoming them into our centres, and writing letters and giving gifts to create joy.
Our centres employ environmentally sustainable practices, including switching off lights when they are not in use, ensuring water is conserved, and reducing waste where possible.
We have strong links with the Councils Coastal Environment Centre and Bushcare team to engage the children in hands on environmental activities and make a positive difference to the natural environment. We run fun environmental education based excursions and in centre days regularly, with input from children, families and educators.
