Strategic Reference Groups help shape future directions and support the Community Strategic Plan Goals.

SRG’s provide interested community members and stakeholders with meaningful opportunities to help inform and shape Council’s strategic direction. Members should reside in or have a strong affiliation with the Northern Beaches.

  • The SRGs will operate until September 2021
  • SRG meetings will be held quarterly, on a Wednesday or Thursday between 6pm and 8pm

Environment

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Protection of the Environment (1-3) and Environment Sustainability (4-6) pillar of the Community Strategic Plan see below. Items presented to the group during the term may include Biodiversity Planning, Environment Strategies, Environmental Education, Environmental Hazards, Corporate Sustainability, Waste Management etc

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.

Partnership and Participation

This Reference Group will consider Goals and Strategies contained within the Civic Leadership Pillar; Partnership and Participation (21-22) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Customer Experience, Community Resilience & Sustainability, Grants, Engagement, Events, Communications, Volunteering etc.

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.

Current Vacancies

The Partnership and Participation SRG is looking for two representatives of organisations or individuals with expertise and experience in one of more of the following:

  • Volunteering organisation or group
  • Social services organisation or group
  • Charitable organisation
  • Strategic marketing technology organisation or group

Places for People

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Social Pillar; Places for People (7-9) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Urban Planning & Design, Affordable Housing, Cultural & Built Heritage, Open space & Recreation etc.

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decisionmaking by Council.

Transport and Travel

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Economic Pillar; Transport, Infrastructure & Connectivity (16-18) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Transport Strategy, Transport & Urban planning etc.

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.

Current vacancy

The Transport and Travel SRG is looking for a representative of an organisation or individual with expertise and experience in:

  • Community transport organisation or group
  • Active travel organisation or group
  • Strategic parking experience organisation or group

Community and Belonging

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Social Pillar; Community and Belonging (10- 12) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Art & Culture, Community Services, Target groups (youth, seniors, CALD) etc. The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.

Current vacancies

The Community and Belonging SRG is looking for three representatives. 

- One community representative from either Pittwater or Narrabeen Ward with an interest in the areas as identified in the Charter.

- Two representatives of organisations or individuals with expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Indigenous culture
  • Disability association of group
  • Homelessness and housing organisations or groups

Economic & Smart Communities

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Economic Pillar; Vibrant Local Economy (13- 15) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Economic Dev Strategy, Business Support & Development, Destination Management Plans, Smart Cities etc. The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision making by Council.

Current vacancies

The Economic and Smart Communities SRG is looking for three representatives of organisations or individuals with expertise and experience in one or more of the following:

  • Tourism organisation or group
  • Economic development
  • Small local business with an interest in tech
  • Strategic planning expertise in smart cities
  • Developing tech proficiency in the community
