Strategic Reference Groups help shape future directions and support the Community Strategic Plan Goals.

  • The SRGs will operate from February 2018 until September 2021
  • SRG meetings will be held quarterly, on a Wednesday or Thursday between 6pm and 8pm

Membership

Nominations were called for membership to six new SRGs. The expression of interest process was open for a period of eight weeks and 175 applications for the six groups were received. The selected members are displayed in each committee below. 

Selection of SRG members was consistent with the Policy for Appointing Community and Stakeholder Representatives to Committees

Community and Belonging

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Social Pillar; Community and Belonging (10- 12) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Art & Culture, Community Services, Target groups (youth, seniors, CALD) etc. The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.

Economic & Smart Communities

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Economic Pillar; Vibrant Local Economy (13- 15) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Economic Dev Strategy, Business Support & Development, Destination Mgt Plans, Smart Cities etc. The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision making by Council.

Environment

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Protection of the Environment (1-3) and Environment Sustainability (4-6) pillar of the Community Strategic Plan see below. Items presented to the group during the term may include Biodiversity Planning, Environment Strategies, Environmental Education, Environmental Hazards, Corporate Sustainability, Waste Management etc

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.

Partnership and Participation

This Reference Group will consider Goals and Strategies contained within the Civic Leadership Pillar; Partnership and Participation (21-22) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Customer Experience, Community Resilience & Sustainability, Grants, Engagement, Events, Communications, Volunteering etc.

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.

Places for People

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Social Pillar; Places for People (7-9) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Urban Planning & Design, Affordable Housing, Cultural & Built Heritage, Open space & Recreation etc.

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decisionmaking by Council.

Transport and Travel

This Reference Group will consider goals and strategies contained within the Economic Pillar; Transport, Infrastructure & Connectivity (16-18) of the Community Strategic Plan. Items presented to the group during the term may include Transport Strategy, Transport & Urban planning etc.

The Group’s clear focus will be on assisting strategic decision-making by Council.
