Council is working with the State Government to identify areas for increased housing availability whilst maintaining the environment and social balance. Work has commenced on some of the key areas identified here but there are still opportunities for the community to have their say and be involved in planning the future of the Northern Beaches.
Ingleside
The Department of Planning & Environment, Northern Beaches Council and Landcom worked with the community to prepare a Land Use and Infrastructure Strategy. On 13 November 2018 The Planning Minister announced that; following an extensive review of the bush fire risk in the Ingleside Precinct, the Department of Planning & Environment advised that the plan requires significant amendment. See the Ingleside Planning page for more information.
Warriewood Valley
Warriewood Valley was first identified for urban development in 1997 and will now accommodate 2,451 dwellings. Work is still progressing in the area with additional roads, paths, parks and flood mitigation measures being implemented with the use of developer contributions. See the Warriewood Valley Major Project page for more information.
