On 1 September 2026, the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure introduced a statewide Community Participation Plan that supersedes the Northern Beaches Community Participation Plan.
The Plan introduces exhibition timeframes for different planning functions and development types across the State and aims to focus community consultation on strategic planning.
As a result, the majority of Development Applications previous exhibited will no longer be notified to neighbours.
Development applications now excluded from exhibition are listed on page 24 of the Plan and include alterations and additions to dwelling houses, secondary dwellings, new dwellings and dual occupancies up to 2 stories as well as subdivision up to 5 lots.
