Stage 1 Program - Water in our World/Different Coastal Environments
Program overview
At beautiful North Narrabeen, Stage 1 students will explore first-hand how water moves through our environments and the role it plays in sustaining ecosystems. They will investigate how freshwater flows to the ocean through brackish lagoons and examine how human activity shapes water environments.
Through hands-on activities and close-up encounters with the unique life found in this area, students will deepen their understanding of waterways and develop a meaningful connection to this special place.

Learning experiences
Coastal Environment Centre, Narrabeen Lagoon
Our experienced educators will facilitate 3-4 activities around Narrabeen Lagoon and the Coastal Environment Centre. Activities include:
- Free exploration of the interactive exhibits in the centre, guided by our Educators
- Engaging with our 3D catchment model, observing how water and pollutants move through the environment
- Student-led design challenge, creating solutions for cleaning water
- Water investigation to understand fresh, salt and brackish water
Explore North Narrabeen Rock Platform
The highlight of the day! Following a safety talk, and guided by our knowledgeable educators, children explore the rock platform. This habitat is full of diverse animals, sure to inspire and ignite the curiosity. An exciting and truly interactive learning experience!
Where time allows for or where a rock platform exploration isn’t possible on a given day, our educators will guide students through a unique beach experience, combing for “beach treasures” to create natural artworks and sculptures. I beautiful immersive experience for your Stage 1 students.
