Our Squads Program runs year round and our committed and passionate coaching team provides a fun and enjoyable environment with an inclusive pathway to performance to ensure that all participants achieve their swimming potential whether your new to squads, swimming for fitness or competing at an elite level in either the pool or surf.

How to join our program

An Assessment is required to join the squads program. Please email swimschool@manlyaquatic.com.au to book in.

Assessment criteria will vary dependant on the current ability of the swimmer. Swimmers must be able to preform and maintain the correct technique for all 4 strokes.

Assessment distance is a minimum of 650m

Times: Monday, Thursday and Fridays at 4.30pm.

Squads Program Cost

Payment for squad's sessions are debited fortnightly, in advance from your selected bank account and fees are dependent on how many sessions you attend per week. You fee includes entry to the pool and 1 spectator.

Equipment Required

  • Swim Cap (All Squad Levels) - a MABC cap is provided to you on enrolment (representative caps or plain colour caps are also acceptable)
  • Goggles (All Squad Levels)
  • Flippers (All Squad Levels)
  • Water bottle (All Squad Levels)
  • Mesh kit bag (All Squad Levels)
  • Pool Buoy - (Bronze, Silver & Gold only)
  • Hand Paddles - (Bronze, Silver & Gold)
  • Front breathing snorkel – (Silver & Gold only)

Development Squads | Duration: 45 minutes

Development squads are for swimmers moving up from the Minis program. Sessions are based on refining race technique, endurance and leaning the essentials drills for all strokes.

Swimmers undertake a minimum of 1 sessions per week.

Junior Squads | Duration: 60 minutes

Junior squads are for swimmers moving up from the Development squad program. Sessions are based on refining race technique, endurance and pace for all strokes.

Swimmers undertake a minimum of 1-2 sessions per week.

Bronze Squads | Duration: 60 minutes

This is the entry level of the competitive squads program and consists of 3 levels. Sessions have higher intensity and volume and focus on development of racing techniques and introduction to different training zones.

Swimmers undertake a minimum of 2-3 sessions per week.

Silver Squads | Duration: 90 minutes

Silver squads are the next levels in our competitive squads program, consists of 2 levels and are for those who wish to swim competitively. The intensity and volume of training sessions is high. Focus is on building a strong aerobic endurance base as well as improving stroke and racing technique.

Swimmers undertake a minimum of 3-4 sessions per week.

Gold Squads | Duration: 120 minutes

Gold Squads consists of 4 levels. Swimmers must be athletes competing at elite levels for National and/or State Championships, Surf Life Saving or Triathlons and be dedicated and focused on achievement and performance. Fitness Centre options are also available for swimmers over 16 years of age. For more details please enquire with your coach

Swimmers undertake a minimum of 5+ sessions per week.

Masters Squad & Swimfit | Duration: 60 minutes

Our Masters Squads non-competitive Swimfit are designed for swimmers wanting to improve or maintain their fitness, endurance and technique.

There is no minimum training sessions required at this level. However we do recommend doing 2-3 session per week.

Swim Club

We are proudly partnered with Manly Swim Club. Manly Swim Club were established in 1905, currently has members ranging from 3 years to veterans are affiliated with Sydney Metro North East, Swimming NSW and Swimming Australia.

The clubs objectives are to provide a great family environment and encourage each member to achieve their personal goals with swimming and have fun doing so. Manly SC hold in-house meets all year round providing club meets in both long course in summer and short course in winter.
