The peak-hour congestion on our roads reflects our heavy reliance on motor vehicles. While there is a range of contributing factors, people choose to commute by private vehicle in part because of a lack of alternative transportation. Council is working with the State Government to provide better public transport and improve our major roads.

Bus Rapid Transport - B-Line

The NSW Government is taking action to deliver transport improvements for the Northern Beaches, including the introduction of the B-Line from Newport to the Sydney CBD.  The B-Line will provide more frequent and reliable services as well as additional car parking spaces at key stops on the route.

Northern Beaches Tunnel

The NSW Government has started work on building the Beaches Link Tunnel which will connect to the Warringah Freeway, cross underneath Middle Harbour and connect with the Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation at Balgowlah. The Wakehurst Parkway will be upgraded to two lanes each way between Seaforth and Frenchs Forest.
