The Northern Beaches is home to a variety of Australian threatened species that rely on our local bushland, waterways and coastal areas to survive. By understanding the challenges they face, our community can play an important role in helping protect and support these unique animals.

Threatened - what does it mean?

The term ‘threatened’ describes species that are listed under State and/or National legislation as ‘Vulnerable’ to extinction, ‘Endangered,’ or ‘Critically Endangered’. Threatened species are those that are likely to become extinct if threats such as habitat loss and/or predation continue.
