About this activity
Using found materials around your home, learn basic weaving techniques and create a woven turtle or Kutukulung (in the Guringai language). Turtles represent truth, being true to yourself and others.
This activity is created by Sheriden, a Wiradjuri woman, who’s practice is inspired by fashion, art, weaving and country. Her colourful woven works include baskets, jewellery, wall hangings and animals. Sheriden also experiments with natural dyeing processes when colouring her materials, using organics such as berries, olives, paprika and other plants.
