Included in your kit:

  • A web link to the tutorial video
  • 1 x Calico fabric printed with original bird design
  • A selection of coloured thread
  • 1 x embroidery needle
  • 1 x embroidery hoop

What you will need:

  • Scissors

Method:

  1. Unscrew the hoops so you have two hoops. Take the plain hoop with no screw and centre it under the fabric under the fabric and the hoop with the clasp over the fabric, tighten up the knob to secure the two rings, making sure the fabric is evenly taught.
  2. Choose your first colour and measure off a length as long as your arm length. There are two ways to work with the thread. One is a single thread where you tie one knot at the needle and one knot at the bottom. The second is pulling the thread into a double thread by securing both ends in a knot. In the tutorial with Peta she uses the double thread.
  3. Using either the stitches showed in the tutorial, including a chain stitch and plain stitch, or creating the stitch looks you want design your bird. Add your our items from home to add extra texture including buttons, sequins, fabric.
  4. Once finished you can either leave in the hoop to display or remove from the hoop and frame.
