We are lucky to have many wonderful native animals in Australia. We are one of the few continents to have all three groups of mammals (monotremes, marsupials and placentals). Some of these amazing creatures are at risk of extinction. Northern Beaches Council is committed to conserving our native wildlife.

Threatened - What does it mean?

The term ‘threatened’ describes species that are listed under State and/or National legislation as ‘Vulnerable’ to extinction, ‘Endangered,’ or ‘Critically Endangered’. Threatened species are those that are likely to become extinct if threats such as habitat loss and/or predation continue.
