The Manly Environment Centre (MEC) is an action and education based centre visited by thousands of overseas and local tourists, day trippers, local residents, students and children each year. Come and learn about sustainability and how your lifestyle choices can create positive outcomes for you, your community and your environment.

What we offer?

The MEC houses the largest collection of environmental education materials accessible to the community in Australia. We also offer internships and work experience opportunities for students. Events, talks and workshops geared towards sustainability are also organised by MEC staff and volunteers.

The MEC opened in 1991 following a groundswell of concern from the community about the intense pressure which development, tourism and pollution were having on the environment. The MEC has become an award winning organisation and a successful example of council, community and corporate co-operation, and provide training, education and campaigning tirelessly for positive environmental outcomes.

Come and volunteer at the MEC, we’re always looking for enthusiastic people with diverse experience. Opportunities are available in local field work, administration, marketing, projects, research and events. Volunteering at the MEC is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience in the environment or events industry.
