Northern Beaches Council has again been recognised in the annual NSW Local Government Excellence Awards receiving three awards.

The awards showcase outstanding projects and celebrates achievements which promote innovation and continuous improvement within NSW local government. 

All winners were announced at the awards dinner last night including three awards presented to our Council including:

Innovative Leadership (Population Over 150,000)
Winner – Resilience Strategy – Withstand. Adapt. Thrive.

The Resilience Strategy will help support and prepare our community to face challenges that have the potential to significantly impact the wellbeing of our community such as natural disasters, housing affordability, climate change and critical infrastructure failure.

Asset and Infrastructure - Projects over $1.5 million (Population Over 150,000)
Highly Commended - Mona Vale Surf Life Saving Club and and amenities facilities. 

The impressive new $10 million purpose-built clubhouse and beach amenities opened in June last year following more than 10 years of consultation and planning. The site includes a cafe, restaurant, nippers’ facilities, storage for the local boardriders club, function space, a first aid room, family change and accessible adult change facilities.  The design is also sympathetic to the environment, with a particular focus on minimising environmental impacts, such as the use of solar panels and recycling rainwater.

High Commended - Forestville Library 24/7

Libraries are no longer just books - they’re safe, welcoming public spaces with access to modern digital services. Following a successful trial, Forestville Library is now accessible 24 hours, 7 days a week to library members providing a state-of-the-art, modern, flexible workspace for everyone from entrepreneurs, small business owners, and students when they need it, outside normal business hours.
