Northern Beaches Council was very proud to be able to support six events on Australia Day 2018 including:

  • Big breakfasts at Newport, Narrabeen and Dee Why
  • A Citizenship Ceremony and presentation of the Northern Beaches Australia Day Awards at Belrose
  • Pool parties at Warringah Aquatic Centre and Manly Andrew Boy Charlton Swim Centre

Our Australia Day events aimed to provide a high-spirited day, whereby everyone could be entertainment while feeling a sense of pride in the Australian community.

Australia Day 2018 at a Glance

  • Over 24,000 attendees across all event sites
  • Over 10,000 breakfasts served across the events at Dee Why, Narrabeen and the Warringah Aquatic Centre
  • 570 thongs thrown in competitions
  • 355 faces painted
  • 80 water bombing competition entrants
  • 45 new citizens from 12 countries officially became Australian Citizens

Raffle Winners

Narrabeen Raffle - The Narrabeen Australia Day Committee would like to thank local businesses for donating to the Community Raffle - Carol Gibbons Photography, Vast Interiors, Anytime Fitness Narrabeen, illie Cafe & Gifts, Narrabeen Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre, IGA Elanora Heights, Elanora Heights Newsagency, Barbette's Feast, Top Shot Espresso, JCs Pizza, Blatchford's Foods, Upper Crust, Drake Real Estate, BWS Elanora, Urban Billabong Cafe, 

  • 1st prize - J. Peak (#0269), 2nd prize - N.Greenow (#0008), 3rd prize - J.Baker (#0038)  

Remote Control Model Boat Competition - A remote control paddlewheeler was built by the Model Boat Club after one of their members sadly died before finishing it. Congratulations to Julien & Reg who won the boat and lessons from The Model Boat Club.

Volunteer Dedication

Over 500 volunteers from 37 community groups helped to deliver the breakfasts, rides and activities across multiple event locations. Proceeds from all events were returned as donations to our local community groups.

Northern Beaches Council would like to thank all the volunteers for their crucial support to make these events happen for our community to enjoy.
