Northern Composure is the largest and longest-running youth band competition in the area and offers musicians local exposure as well as invaluable stage experience. The competition involves three rounds of heats during March, held at locations across the Northern Beaches, followed by the final in April as part of National Youth Week celebrations. With a total prize pool of over $10,000 up for grabs.

This year was the 18th year of the competition with record numbers in attendance.

Heartlake took home the coveted Judge’s Choice award of the Northern Composure 2019 Band Competition at the Northern Beaches PCYC in Dee Why. Drummer Giacomo Benvenuto said it was a ‘momentous occasion’ for the band, who also won the Audience Choice gong in 2017 and 2018. Heartlake secured a music production, recording and marketing package worth over $7,000, $1000 cash as well as $1,000 gift voucher from Mall Music. 

Audience choice winners, Tarantino won $500 cash and will get the chance to perform again in front of a crowd, securing themself a spot in an upcoming local band night.
