Our dedicated Meals on Wheels team has been awarded for its outstanding contribution to the community and the NSW Meals on Wheels Association.

Northern Beaches Council won the ‘Helping Hands’ award at the recent Annual General Meeting of the NSW Meals on Wheels Association.

The award celebrates the team’s unwavering commitment to promoting the service in the community.

Meals on Wheels staff were recognised for their remarkable efforts in facilitating corporate volunteering opportunities with Reckitt and Bank of Canada, distributing donated goods to clients and volunteers, promoting initiatives that aim to reduce waste, and supporting the overall work of the NSW Meals on Wheels Association.

Council’s Meals on Wheels service provides tasty and nutritious home-delivered meals to residents aged over 65 or those aged over 50 years and who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Meals on Wheels staff and volunteers also provide valuable social interaction and connection to people who are often socially isolated.

The team delivers more than just food – they offer a friendly smile, a sympathetic ear and a ‘helping hand’ to older people in our community.
