Adoption in the Northern Beaches
There are many animals in shelters across NSW, including right here on the Northern Beaches. Adoption gives an animal a second chance at finding their forever home and the love they deserve. Whether you're looking to adopt or foster, there are several wonderful organisations in our area that can help you find your newest family member.

How adoption works
Adoption is simple. Start by browsing the animals available through each organisation’s website or social media. If you find a pet you’re interested in, submit an enquiry or contact the organisation directly. You’ll then meet the animal to make sure you’re a good match. Some groups may do basic checks, and once approved, you complete the paperwork, pay the fee, and take your new companion home.
How fostering works
Fostering provides temporary care for an animal until they are adopted. It’s ideal for people who want to help but can’t commit long‑term. Most organisations provide food, bedding, and veterinary care. Foster carers offer love, socialisation, and a safe place to stay.
