An emerging artist working on Gadigal land, Sophie Tunks’ process-based practice centers on investigating stains and marks found on discarded objects through printmaking methodologies. She reads these traces as evidence of human possession and interaction, exploring themes of waste, attachment and the enduring presence of materials beyond their intended use.
A collector since childhood, Sophie brings together found items in ways that invite audiences to reconsider their function and value outside formal roles. Her work opens a dialogue around material vitality, fostering an empathy for the inanimate and prompting reflection on our relationships with the objects that shape our daily lives.
