Join Plastic Free July and be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans and beautiful communities.
Plastic Free July has grown from a humble office initiative in Perth to a global movement with over 100 million participants in 190 countries taking part in the annual challenge.
Get started on reducing your single use plastic with the following resources, ideas and events that we’re hosting across the Northern Beaches.
The Litterbug and Lisa the Litter Guard booklet
Follow Lisa the Litter Guard as she helps the Litter Bug learn about waste on the Northern Beaches. This 20 page booklet includes questions and activities and is suitable for primary age students.
Polystyrene Collection
We are encouraging residents to bring their rigid pieces of 100% clean, white and dry expanded polystyrene (EPS) used for packaging of appliances and electronics to Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre for recycling on our collection days for free.

Manly leads the way
Supported by Surfrider Foundation Northern Beaches, many Manly sushi retailers are encouraging customers to use refillable soy sauce bottles. They also offer compostable soy sauce fish containers as a more sustainable alternative to the single-use plastic containers that are commonly littered on our beaches and in our waterways.
