Rules and Guidelines

1. Your crew: All participants (including extras) must be aged 12 to 24 and only registered participants can help make the film. You may have 1 - 10 members in your crew. Teams compete in the age category where most of their members fit. If there is no majority the team will be placed in the older age category.

   Example:

   -    Two members aged 15 yrs and one aged 14 yrs: Category is 15 to 18 yrs
   -    Two members aged 16 yrs and two aged 19yrs: Category is 19 to 24 yrs. 
   -    Two members aged 16 yrs and one aged 20: Category is 15 to 18 yrs.
    

2. Another crew rule: Each team must have at least two members or 50% of the team who studies, works or lives on the Northern Beaches. Solo filmmakers must study, work or live on the Northern Beaches.
3. Keep it short and sweet: Your film must be no longer than 7 minutes, including title and credits.
4. Include the required stuff: You’ll need to include secret elements in your film - a mystery item, phrase and keyword - which will be revealed 4 days before film submission are due.
5. Filming dates: Your film must be shot and submitted by Sun 16 Aug, 9pm
6. Get permission: You must have consent from all identifiable individuals on camera (even in the background). No filming random people, especially kids, in public places.
7. Keep it clean and viewable for ALL ages: No nudity, swearing or anything too intense. Teams are to tailor content that is appropriate for an all-ages audience. Films must be rated M or lower. If you’re unsure, check the Australian Classification guidelines or email us before filming.
8. Use legal music only: You need permission to use music in your film. There are lots of free, copyright-safe music sites out there. Don’t forget to credit your music in the film credits. For more information check out our information and frequently asked questions webpage.
9. Stay safe and smart: No dangerous stunts, offensive content, or illegal activity. If you break this rule, your film will be disqualified. Your safety is our top priority.
10. No fake weapons: Please don’t use toy or replica guns or knives, even if they’re fake. Keep your film safe and suitable for everyone.
11. We may share your work: By entering, you’re giving us permission to show your film in full or in part at any related event.
12. Judges’ decision is final: No correspondence will be entered into.
13. Sign the form: All participants must sign the Participant Consent and Indemnity form. Under 18? You’ll need a parent or guardian to sign on your behalf.
