Head over to our YouTube channel to see the winning scripts performed on stage.

The Young Scriptwriters Competition returned in 2022, asking local high school students to write an original short play script, based on the theme 'Human Interaction'. Finalists then had the opportunity to workshop their scripts with a director and see their plays brought to life on stage at Glen Street Theatre during Youth Week 2022.

Our six finalists interpreted the theme of 'Human Interaction' into different scenarios; from the impact of personal relationships and friendship to our interaction with modern technology and nature. Their plays allowed us to view the world through the eyes of the young, the old, and how human interaction influences us. We were excited to receive so many unique and creative interpretations.

We want to again congratulate the winning scriptwriters and their short plays which are listed below:

  • Grandpa’s Confusion written by Kayla Gray, performed by Max Dijkstra and Ella Cotton
  • The Date written by Joel Davies-Sparks, performed by Thomas Noorbergen and Warrun Dijkstra
  • Talk to Me written by Zara Perry, performed by Aria Hart and Summer Rowland-Smith
  • Believe Me written by Isla Hook, performed by Amelie Stone and Aria Hart
  • Sisters written by Samantha Winter, performed by Isabel Young and Revelle Najar
  • Buckshot written by Finley Hill, performed by Joel Davies-Sparks and Isla Hook

A special congratulations to the Audience Choice award winner on the night - Sisters written by Samantha Winter, performed by Isabel Young and Revelle Najar.

We would also like to thank director Paul Winchester and the local actors from Point Break Drama who bought these scripts to life.

We are proud to offer opportunities for young writers to explore their creativity and talent. Our annual Young Writers' Competition is currently open to all students on the Northern Beaches, from Kindergarten to Year 12.
