Young Scriptwriters Competition 2022

The Young Scriptwriters Competition for 2022 has now ended. The winning scripts were brought to life on stage by local actors from Point Break Drama, directed by Paul Winchester. The performances were filmed and are available to view on our YouTube channel.

Finalists of the Young Scriptwriters Competition 2022

Our six finalists interpreted the theme of Human Interaction into different scenarios; from the impact of personal relationships and friendship to our interaction with modern technology and nature. Their plays allowed us to view the world through the eyes of the young, the old, and how human interaction influences us. We were excited to receive so many unique and creative interpretations.

Congratulations to our six finalist scriptwriters:

  • Grandpa’s Confusion written by Kayla Gray

  • The Date written by Joel Davies-Sparks

  • Talk to Me written by Zara Perry

  • Believe Me written by Isla Hook

  • Sisters written by Samantha Winter

  • Buckshot written by Finley Hill

A special congratulations to the Audience Choice award winner on the night - Sisters written by Samantha Winter, performed by Isabel Young and Revelle Najar.

About the Competition

The Young Scriptwriters Competition returned in 2022, asking local high school students to write an original short play script, based on the theme Human Interaction.

Entries were judged according to characterisation, originality, plot and innovative use of the theme.

Six finalists were chosen to have their scripts workshopped with a director and performed live at Glen Street theatre by local drama students during Youth Week 2022.
