National Science Week: 9 - 17 August 2025
National Science Week is an annual celebration of science and technology, with the aim to spark an interest in science in young people, and encourage them to find fascination in the world that we live in.
This year's theme is Decoding the Universe: Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language.

Starr’s Planetarium Dome Show: Tycho goes to Mars
10am - 11am, suitable for ages 5+
Join Tycho as he searches for water on cold, dusty Mars. Luckily, he meets Oppy, the NASA rover, who can help him explore! This show also includes a guided ‘What’s in the sky tonight’ and Indigenous stories presentation.

Starr's Planetarium Dome Show: The Great Solar System Adventure
11am - 12pm, suitable for ages 7+
Join showman extraordinaire "The Great Schiaparelli" as he takes you on a death-defying space-time adventure - from the sun-scorched surface of Mercury to the icy expanses of Pluto. This show also includes a guided ‘What’s in the sky tonight’ and Indigenous stories presentation.

Starr's Planetarium Dome Show: Stories in the Stars - The night sky of the Boorong people
12 - 1pm, suitable for ages 8+
Explore Indigenous Australian astronomy and their stories of the night skies, including descriptions of constellations that cannot be seen from northern latitudes. This show also includes a guided ‘What’s in the sky tonight’ presentation.

Rain Maker Craft
10 - 11am, suitable for ages 4+ with guardian supervision
Create your very own rain maker and hear the musical sounds of rain as you bring it to life!

Blast off with an exciting display of rockets from the NSW Rocketry Association and George from YouTube’s Air Command Rockets. Take the opportunity to browse and learn about different types of rockets.
