Evergreen medium to large tree with spreading crown and flaky fibrous bark (25m x 10m) from coastal Vic and NSW (including Sydney Hawkesbury Sandstone region).

Quick growing shade tree for coastal location. Attractive to nectar eating birds and possums.

Thick broad glossy dark green leaves paler below. Cream flowers in summer. Useful as a large windbreak or shade tree for a large garden.

Conditions

Prefers well drained, saline soils in an open, sunny position. Frost and drought tolerant. Additional irrigation above natural rainfall may be required if growing conditions do not replicate the plant's natural occurrence.
