Council is trialling a new timber recycling service as part of our regular bulky goods collections.

If you have an upcoming bulky goods collection, let us know if you’ve got eligible timber to put out for collection. We will then contact you and let you know if you can be included in the trial.

Timber will be recycled into kitchen cabinets and other joinery, rather than ending up in landfill.

This trial is in line with our Environment and Climate Change Strategy 2040, where Council is aiming to divert 85% of waste from landfill by 2040.

Please be aware, there are limited spaces each collection day for this trial and while we will do our best to fit you in, we may not be able to include everyone.

The limited trial will run for 10 weeks between July and September and its continuation will be dependent on the trial outcomes. If the trial is a success, it will help us to develop future programs to recover more bulky goods from landfill. So let us know if you want to be part of it!

If you have other items you would rather see recycled than end up in landfill, check out our A-Z guide of reuse, recycling and disposal and our Reuse and Recycling map, displaying locations where you can drop off items for reuse or recycling.

Update: The timber trial is now closed and Council is currently assessing the results.
