Helping Hands – Manly is a meaningful and engaging school holiday program designed for kids aged 8–14 who want to make a real difference. Throughout the day, children take part in hands-on cooking activities, preparing fresh meals and packing essential care items for individuals and families facing homelessness and hardship.

Alongside the practical work, participants learn about the challenges vulnerable community members face and explore how local charities step in to support them. This program not only builds empathy and awareness, but also empowers young people to see the impact they can have through small acts of kindness.

Running from 9:30am–2:30pm at the Manly Youth & Community Centre, the session blends cooking, teamwork, community education and purposeful action — all within a fun, safe and supportive environment. Each Helping Hands day may look a little different, depending on the needs of our charity partners, but all programs give children the opportunity to help others while learning new skills and connecting with their community.
