Located between Park and Waratah Streets in Mona Vale, Woodlands Reserve is a small urban bushland reserve.

The reserve supports a Northern Hinterland Wet Sclerophyll Forest which is a dry open eucalypt forest.

Plants

The canopy is dominated by E. pilularis (blackbutt), E. propinqua (grey gum), E. siderophloia (grey ironbark).

Shrubs, cramblers and forbs include Cissus hypoglauca (giant water vine), Hibbertia dentata, H. scandens (climbing guinea flower), Pandorea pandorana (wonga wonga vine), Smilax australis (sarsaparilla),  Amperea xiphoclada var. xiphoclada (broome spurge), Desmodium rhytidophyllum (rusty tick-trefoil), D. varians (slender tick-trefoil), Dianella caerulea (blue flax lily), Geranium homeanum, Glycine clandestina, Pratia purpurascens (white root), Vernonia cinerea, Pteridium esculentum (bracken). 

Dense swards of Imperata cylindrica var. major (blady grass) and Lomandra longifolia (spiny-headed mat-rush) may be present.

Animals

The Woodlands support a few more common  species including long nosed bandicoots and ring tail possums.

The copious amount of fallen wood and leaf litter provide food, habitat and shelter for a complex invertebrate ground fauna, while insects, mites and spiders provide a bountiful resource for insectivorous birds.
