Elliott Routledge

Strange Oasis, 2023

Manly Art Gallery and Museum

Elliott Routledge born in Tokyo, Japan, is a contemporary abstract artist who for many years lived and worked on the Northern Beaches. He is known for his public art installations all around Australia, and throughout  the world. His work exists in a balance between expressive mark making, abstract form and small to large scale sculpture.

This work highlights the unique location of the Manly Art Gallery and Museum, whilst also celebrating the oceanside paradise that is Manly. It celebrates the strange co-location of beach and museum, and the museum and gallery’s role as a place of sanctuary and respite.

Strange Oasis was made possible with support from the Theo Batten Estate.
