Known as ‘Poppy Park’, the playground is located in the Forestville War Memorial Playing Fields Precinct. It underwent a major renovation in early 2023, partially funded by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry & Environment's (DPIE) Everyone Can Play grant program which supports the creation of inclusive public open spaces for adventure and play.

Affectionately named after the red poppy that is the commemorative flower of remembrance, the Park, like the precinct as a whole, is a reminder of those who lost their lives or suffered in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Play options include:

  • two slides – an enclosed spiral tube and straight slide
  • swings
  • spring rocker
  • musical pipes
  • balancing play elements
  • toddler play structure and double slide
  • climbing wall
  • high backed and standard wing.

The playground forms part of the recreation precinct that includes:

  • multiple sports fields including synthetic fields
  • netball and basketball courts
  • skate park
  • two dog parks - Purple Poppy Dog Park and field 3 (restricted times)
  • outdoor fitness area.
