Requests for a new memorial can be made by completing an application form which can be found on our website. Information required for your application includes the memorial location(s) you would like Council to consider.

Council’s policy about memorials guides our decisions about memorial locations, this policy includes that:

Memorials will be considered in locations:

• considered suitable for the type of proposed memorial
• that do not unreasonably affect the community’s access and enjoyment of that site

Memorials will not be considered in locations:

• where death by suicide has occurred, or considered high suicide risk locations
• already at capacity with memorials.

Locations shown may change or become unavailable from time to time. However, Council will endeavour to assist applicants in identifying a suitable approved location while balancing broader community needs and public space use.

Locations for new memorial trees

Memorial trees are grouped into grove sites to create a cohesive and dedicated space for remembrance. Grove sites that are currently available for applications are: 

• Winnererremy Bay
• Killarney Heights Oval

Locations for new memorial seats

We have reviewed memorial seating availability at heavily visited reserves and identified locations that:

• may have potential need for a seat, or
• are at capacity. 

Applications for memorial seats on Council-owned or managed land outside the locations shown on the map will be considered in line with Council’s Memorials and Naming Honours Policy.
