Market Gardens
Tuesday, 30 January 2024

Our Local Studies team are seeking to grow their knowledge of the market gardeners of the Northern Beaches, especially the Dee Why, Brookvale and Freshwater areas, who farmed and sold fresh produce to the local communities.

From the early development of the Northern Beaches to recent times, market gardeners were part of a cosmopolitan community, which not only enriched the area economically, but also culturally and socially.

If you have any stories or images of the market gardeners of Dee Why, Brookvale and Freshwater, please contact our Local Studies team at localhistory@northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au or phone 02 8495 5027.

Any information gathered will enrich our Local Studies collection and assist with upcoming historical talks.
