Our new Library delivery service has been keeping our community entertained during lockdown, making their days a little brighter.

Library2U will have been running for a month this Friday 1 May and the service has been a huge success.

So far we’ve delivered some 21,081 loaned items to around 9,599 homes.

Our Library staff haven’t just been working hard packing and delivering items, they’ve also been carefully choosing books and movies for those members who select ‘Librarian’s Choice’. And here’s what some of our members had said about the specially curated service:

“I’ve really enjoyed all the books that your librarians selected for me. They’ve got good taste. I particularly enjoyed Seven Days of Us and had a giggle when I saw the theme of the plot (a family in quarantine). Love the sense of humour that went with this pick and it was a great read as well.”

“I was beyond thrilled with my delivery today. The books were all new releases and the choices are outstanding. I am so happy to have such skilled and caring people choosing books for me!”

If you haven’t tried our Library2U service yet, check out our catalogue and reserve an item or put your trust in our Librarians who will choose something just for you. Not a Library member? Join us online.

It’s not just our new Library2U service that has proved popular during the COVID-19 pandemic, our eLibrary has never been so busy. In fact, we’re seeing more eLibrary loans than we see over Christmas and New Year, which is normally our busiest period. Over the past month, there have been over 8,000 loans through BorrowBox and over 13,000 loans in Overdrive.

And it’s not just new releases our members are borrowing with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone taking the number one spot for our most borrowed audio book on Overdrive. You can find out more about what people having been reading online here.
