In support of Northern Beaches Council’s commitment towards becoming a Dementia Friendly Community, we have expanded our dementia friendly resources at the library.

The dementia friendly resources includes a selection of non-fiction and fiction books, with picture books and additional resources arriving soon.

Titles have been selected with the assistance of Dementia Australia’s staff and include:

  • Dancing with elephants: mindfulness training for those living with dementia, chronic illness, or an ageing brain by Jane Sawatsky
  • Practical nutrition and hydration for dementia-friendly mealtimes by Lee Martin
  • A loved one with dementia: insights and tips for teenagers by Jean Rawitt.
  • Living Well with dementia through music edited by Catherine Richards
  • Growing older as a trans and/or non-binary person: a support guide by Jenny Kermode

Borrow the dementia friendly resources online, through the Library App or contact your local Northern Beaches Library Service.

Northern Beaches Library Service are working with Dementia Australia to grow and improve our collection, as we work towards creating safe and inclusive spaces for those living with dementia.
