During November, the NSW Public Libraries Association presented the State of our Libraries Report which found that public libraries 'are not just surviving, they are thriving.'
In recognition of the report's positive outcome, the Renew Our Libraries campaign is celebrating Love Your Library Week which is an opportunity to pledge support for secure long-term funding for public libraries.
In celebration of this campaign, we would like to share eight ways you can show your local library some love.
1. Get a library card
Joining Northern Beaches Libraries is completely free and you can join online or in branch. You will have access to a multitude of resources, not to mention the four beautifully designed membership cards you get to choose from.
2. Follow us on social media or subscribe to our newsletter
Follow us on Facebook to see information about upcoming programs, services we offer and our online resources. We also share book recommendations and images from our Local Studies collection. You can also subscribe to our monthly newsletter by asking staff in branch.
3. Borrow a book
Borrowing an item from any of our six branches is a big sign of support for us. Did you know that you can borrow up to 30 items? If you can't see anything you like on the shelf, head into our catalogue to search through the entire collection.
4. Attend a program
From author talks to technology help to Harry Potter potion classes, we run programs for everyone. Take a look at our What's On page to see upcoming and regular programs.
Where would we be without our volunteers? If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or know someone who is, take a look at the volunteer positions we have available.
6. Chat with our Local Studies team
If you are curious about Northern Beaches' past, visit our Local Studies team at Dee Why, Manly or Mona Vale Libraries. We have a significant amount of items in the Local Studies collection, including thousands of images, that may be of interest to you.
7. Browse our website
You will find a movie streaming service, online tutorials, educational games for kids, eBooks, eAudiobooks and much, much more.
8. Leave us some feedback
We are always looking for ways we can improve our service. If you have any suggestions or ideas, we would love to hear them.
