We are Reviewing our Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Northern Beaches Council Libraries.

We are undergoing a review of our volunteer program. Once we resume the program, we will respond to your volunteer interest application.

What Our Volunteers Do

Many of our services are delivered with the assistance of our skilled and enthusiastic volunteers.

Volunteers assist in a wide range of areas such as:

  • Shelf tidying
  • Repairing books
  • Contributing to the local studies collection with newspaper indexing
  • Interviews and archival assistance
  • Delivering books to housebound members.

Home Library Service

Are you available to travel to people's homes and deliver books?

The home library service delivers library resources to those who are either temporarily or permanently unable to visit the library.

You will receive training and extensive support to perform this vital role. Your visit will make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Exam Supervision

Students who study by correspondence or online often require supervision whilst sitting exams. If you are available to help supervise exams for a two or three hour period, please lodge a Adult Volunteer Interest Online Application Form.

Family History Fridays

Every Friday between 10am and 4pm at Dee Why Library we hold Family History Fridays.  Dedicated family history volunteers assist the public with their family history research.  Each volunteer covers a two hour time slot giving each customer a one on one session for an hour. Experience with genealogy research on and Findmypast is required.
