National Science Week

National Science week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, designed to promote and encourage children’s interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

This year’s theme is: Innovation: Powering Future Industries.

Join us at the library this National Science Week for the following programs and activities:  

Penguins Talk at Mona Vale Library

For Primary school aged children, their families and carers.

Little Bang Discovery Club at Warringah Mall

Thu 31 Aug – Thu 21 Sep, 11am – 12pm

Calling all budding scientists! Little Bang Discovery Club is a STEM program designed to capture and develop the inquisitiveness of pre-schoolers, and inspire scientific exploration, discovery, and learning.
The program runs for 4-weeks, encouraging children to develop ideas and skills through a series of engaging experiences and hands-on activities using everyday objects.
Suitable for children aged 3-5 and their adult co-learner.

STEM Kits

Available at all branch libraries.

Inspire kids to learn science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by borrowing one of our STEM kits! these kits can show them how to develop their own musical instruments, how to turn bananas into a piano, how to program a little robot and much more.
For kids aged 6 and over.

STEM Corner at Warringah Mall Library

Every Wednesday during Term 3, 4 – 5pm
Warringah Mall Library

Try out a range of interactive kits and technology including Ozobots, Micro:bits, dots, dash and more. No prior experience required. This is a drop-in space for parents and children to test and explore our STEM tech together.
For ages 8 to 12 years old, with an accompanying parent or guardian.
