The rainbow lorikeet is usually seen in flocks making a loud chattering noise.

Lorikeets harvest nectar and pollen from flowering trees and shrubs such as bottle brush, banksia and grevillea. They also eat fruit, seeds and insects.

They live in forests and wooded habitats and thrive in urban areas where there are plenty of trees.
