Northern Beaches Council is inviting interested parties to tender for the operation of a new café that will be part of the upgraded Tramshed Arts & Community Centre at Narrabeen.

Northern Beaches Council General Manager Mark Ferguson said the Tramshed is one of Council’s most popular and heavily utilised community centres with more than 65 community groups using it on a regular basis.

“Council is upgrading the community centre to cater for the increasing demand for community space and is encouraging businesses to be part of this new facility. Tendering out the new café will create additional local jobs and help stimulate economic activity in the Narrabeen area.

The upgrade work includes improving accessibility and making the facility more user-friendly and relevant in a modern world, whilst still retaining the charm and period features of the original heritage building that once serviced the early trams along Pittwater Road. A restored tram will be installed to create a focal point for the upgraded facility.

“With the new B-Line and associated carpark coming, as well as playground facilities next door, the Tramshed will again be a drawcard for Narrabeen,” he said.

Work on the Tramshed is progressing well and is due for completion in June.
