The Northern Beaches was battered over the weekend with high winds, large swells and heavy rain, with most catchments receiving 3 to 4 times more rainfall than was forecast.

There are some road closures in the area due to fallen trees and the elevated lagoon levels.

While the entrances to both Manly and Narrabeen Lagoon are open, water levels remain high due to the ocean conditions slowing the outflow.

Narrabeen Lagoon has remained open all weekend with crews working on site on Sunday to ensure the channel remained clear.

Crews worked overnight to open Manly Lagoon entrance however it closed early this morning with the arrival of the heavy swell. It has since been reopened.

Curl Curl and Dee Why lagoons remain open.

Lagoon levels are expected to slowly subside during the day, depending on the ocean conditions, tides and any further rainfall.

We’re encouraging residents to remain vigilant over the coming days, particularly given the unpredictable conditions.
