The concept design for the proposed boardwalk extension linking McKillop Park Reserve to the boardwalk at South Curl Curl has been revealed, providing a first look at the coastal pathway’s location.

The boardwalk will provide locals and visitors with a continued coastal experience that is set safely back from the cliff edge and above the native vegetation.

It will remove the need to use the stairs to Lumsdaine Drive and connect the existing boardwalk to the public artwork that will be installed at McKillop Park Reserve next year.

Due to the environmental sensitivities and rich biodiversity of the area, extensive work has been undertaken to ensure the design of the boardwalk has limited environmental impacts.

We have commissioned a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) to assess the environmental impacts of the proposed boardwalk extension.

The REF report concludes that the boardwalk is unlikely to have a significant impact on the environment and includes actions and management measures to mitigate any potential impacts.

You can view the concept design and share your thoughts on the REF on our website.

You’re also welcome to come and chat to us about the REF at our drop-in session on Saturday 3 December 2022 from 10am to 12noon at McKillop Park Reserve (by the Freshwater Headland car park).
