Northern Beaches Council is encouraging local residents to celebrate Australia’s biggest community tree-planting initiative at a special event at North Curl Curl on Sunday 29 July 2018.

Council is hosting a National Tree Day function at Flora and Ritchie Roberts Reserve, Griffin Road, North Curl Curl between 10am - 2pm.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the event is sure to be fun for everyone and is in support of a good cause.

“Come and join other residents for a great day out regenerating the local area. Enjoy native wildlife displays, plant giveaways and a delicious sausage sizzle while learning about native plants in this distinctive dune system.

“Volunteers from our Bushcare conservation and rehabilitation program will also be on hand. The work they do is invaluable so chat to them about joining their volunteer program, and enjoy the company of like-minded people, whilst helping to protect our natural environment,” Mayor Regan said.

There are currently more than 400 active volunteers who work at over 80 unique sites throughout the Northern Beaches.

National Tree Day was co-founded in 1996 by Planet Ark and singer Olivia Newton-John.

Planet Ark is asking people across Australia to plant one million new native trees and shrubs on National Tree Day.
