A sure-fire comedy winner, ‘The Dapto Chaser’ races into Glen Street Theatre

Glen Street Theatre has announced a season presentation of The Dapto Chaser, a topical warts-and-all comedy that gets to grips with the adrenaline, sweat-and-guts of Australia’s greyhound racing sub-culture.

Described as “a luscious mix of ingredients that make a spicy, unexpected, twisting, turning narrative”, The Dapto Chaser centres on the Sinclairs - a working class family trapped in the pressure cooker of gambling addiction.

For the Sinclair family, the cut-throat world of greyhound racing is not a sport – it’s a religion.  And their beloved greyhound, Boy Named Sue, is far more than a dog; he’s their heart and soul on four legs.

When things stop going to plan for the Sinclairs, though, they are forced to gamble the most important commodity of all – their relationships to each other.

With the crucial Winnebago Classic on the horizon, Cess Sinclair has one shot at reversing his family’s fortunes for good. Against all the odds, he’s betting on a miracle.

The Dapto Chaser is warts-and-all Australian dramatic comedy. Funny, rude and illuminating, it’s both contemporary and extremely entertaining.

Playwright Mary Rachel Brown has scripted a whippet smart family saga, directed by comedy legend Glynn Nicholas.

Cast members Richard Sydenham, Jamie Oxenbould and Noel Hodda make the most of Brown’s richly fashioned characters. The Dapto Chaser is not to be missed..
