A number of employees from Northern Beaches Council are still on cloud nine after taking home a handful of awards from the NSW Local Government Professionals Awards Dinner.

Representatives from the youth-led public art project ‘Tiny Doors’ were delighted after snaring the prestigious Creative Communities award.

Their project drew on the creativity of local youth, featuring a series of miniature art pieces – styled in the form of tiny doorways and portals – placed in public spaces across the Northern Beaches.

Later in the evening, a Northern Beaches Council team of six staff were crowned NSW Management Challenge winners ahead of representatives from Lake Macquarie City Council and Waverley Council.

A second team from Northern Beaches Council finished fourth in the overall standings in the same category.

The victorious team of six will now take part in the national event.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan was quick to pay tribute to the Council award winners.

“I was very happy but not at all surprised when I heard we (Council) left a big mark on the awards evening,’’ he said.

“It shows the talent we have on our staff books. “Congratulations to all our winners and finalists.”

Northern Beaches Council were also highly commended in a further two categories – Excellence in People and Culture (Innovation in Structure – Community Librarian) and Service Delivery Initiative (Three into One Does Go: Migrating from Three to One Library Management Systems).
