Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, Proof is an intriguing and passionate play which examines the nature of genius and the power of love.

Exploring the misunderstood relationship between genius and mental instability, Proof is a thought-provoking drama written by American playwright, David Auburn. The much-loved play was later adapted into the 2005 Hollywood film of the same name, starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The play offers funny, observant lines and is immensely absorbing in the loving and brittle relationships it depicts.

Written in 2000, the play has run across Broadway, the West End and premiered in Australia at the Sydney Opera House in 2003.

"For me, one of the most important things about theatre is the stories we choose to tell,” says lead actor Ylaria Rogers.

“Proof is beautifully crafted with integrity and a deep understanding of human relationships."

PLOT:
Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father. When he dies she is left alone to pick up the pieces of her life without him. She may have inherited at least a part of her father’s genius — and perhaps some of his instability as well. Catherine’s father Hal, details a ground breaking mathematical proof in the 103 notebook he leaves behind, forcing Catherine to question how much she can actually trust those closest to her.
