The Northern Beaches will host Ramp Revival, the only NSW qualifying events for the Skateboard Vert National Competition.

The first stop of the Ramp Revival series is at the Allambie Vert Ramp at Frenchs Forest this Saturday 17 December from 10am-5pm and will be an important qualifying event for those hoping to make the Australian National finals at Monster Skatepark at Sydney Olympic Park.

"Vert skateboarding is an advanced skating technique employing special moves on a purpose built U-shaped ramp, and with two vert ramps located on the Northern Beaches it really makes for a great training ground for vert skateboarders," said David Kerr, Northern Beaches Council Deputy General Manager.

"This will be a great opportunity for the public to come along and see some spectacular action. Undoubtedly there will be a fair share of spills and thrills along the way as competitors try to pull off their best moves and qualify for the major title.

"With our vert ramps, other great local skate facilities and talented skaters on the Northern Beaches, there is every chance our area could produce a national champion," Mr Kerr said.

The final Ramp Revival qualifier will be held at Mona Vale Skatepark Vert Ramp on February 12 with the National Vert Finals to be hosted at Monster Skatepark on March 11 and 12.

Northern Beaches Council is pleased to be hosting the NSW qualifiers in partnership with Skateboard NSW and the peak body for skateboarding in Australia, the Australian Skateboarding Federation. Skateboarding continues to grow in popularity worldwide and will debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
