The Northern Beaches Council upgrade of Church Point has reached a significant milestone, with the official opening of the new timber boardwalk and realigned McCarrs Creek Road today, the first new road opened by the Northern Beaches Council (Monday 4 September).

Council Administrator Dick Persson AM said the improvements to Church Point would transform the precinct and benefit locals and visitors alike.

“The community can be assured that this $10 million upgrade is on track and will deliver a new and improved amenity as well as a much-needed parking solution for our offshore residents,” Mr Persson said

“The next stage involves construction of the 120 space car park and new boardwalk around the Waterfront CafĂ© and General Store to create an uninterrupted connection though to Mona Vale.

“I would like to acknowledge and thank the Aesthetic Advisory Group of local residents for their valuable input into the project,” Mr Persson said.

The next stage of the project is due to be completed by early 2018, weather permitting.

A joint initiative by Northern Beaches Council and the NSW Government to acquire Pasadena at Church Point would also provide further opportunity to create community open space.
