Inspiring ceramic artworks created by 14 local TAFE teachers are the focus of a new exhibition at the Manly Art Gallery & Museum (MAG&M).

The ceramics teachers from TAFE NSW Northern Beaches and Hornsby created the artworks especially for the exhibition.

MAG&M senior curator Katherine Roberts said the exhibition was developed to recognise the vital contribution art education makes to enriching the northern beaches community and the broader cultural environment.

“The exhibition also acknowledges the parallel and connected roles people play as both practicing artists and teachers,” Ms Roberts said.

Exhibiting artist, Christopher James said the local environment inspired his ceramic work ‘Wild Places’.

“The northern beaches landscape with its national parks and its connection with the ocean have fuelled a sense of joyfulness and in turn fuelled this work.

“Impart is a wonderful opportunity for me to realise a body of work that has been swirling in the back of my mind for some time.

“Manly Art Gallery & Museum, perched on the edge of Sydney Harbour offers the perfect location to exhibit work that is inspired by wild places,” Mr James said.
