2020 – a new decade and a new chapter for the long-standing and much loved Glen Street Theatre in the beautiful Northern Beaches suburb of Belrose. It is an exciting time under the reins of the recently appointed Director, Belinda Gibson, who has put together an exciting Subscription Season for 2020.

Northern Beaches Council Mayor Michael Regan said the future of Glen Street Theatre is looking stronger than ever.

“With the theatre located in the heart of this recently regenerated community, our 2020 program represents the strong and active arts and creative culture of the Northern Beaches. Glen Street Theatre has a strong legacy of bringing some of the best national touring companies and Australian talent to our community. We are seeing growth in our subscription rates with rapidly increasing attendance of ‘Family’ and ‘Education’ programs, with many shows in 2019 selling out.”

The 2020 Season offers entertainment for all ages with a continued commitment to a diverse program. Some sell out favourites are returning, including The Wharf Revue - which is touring for the very last time, along with musical theatre, quality dramas, dance and film. The Family program will bring books to life on stage including Edward the Emu for the little ones and the Just series by Andy Griffiths for the older kids (and their parents!). The incredibly popular Matinee Music program will include performances by Music Theatre legend Geraldine Turner and a show coming directly from New York having just performed on Broadway.

Director of Glen Street Theatre Belinda Gibson said the theatre every year aims to present a diverse range of high-quality performances that would not otherwise come to our community.

“In 2020 we have introduced ‘add-ons’ to our core Subscription Program to maximise events which are accessible to the Northern Beaches communities. We are very excited to bring the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow to Glen Street Theatre for the first time as one of these extra shows. We have also programmed more matinees and Sunday afternoon shows than ever before, enabling access to our shows at convenient times.”

If you are not a regular, now is the time to acquaint yourself with this amazing theatre, right on your doorstep.
