BMX bike enthusiasts on the northern beaches have a new track to test their skills with the opening of a BMX Pump Track at JJ Melbourne Hills Reserve in Terrey Hills.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the new pump track is an exciting addition to the heavily-used existing bike facilities at the Reserve, which includes a main BMX track and a criterium.

“BMX pump tracks are a great facility for riders of all ages and skills in a fantastic setting surrounded by native bushland.

“The new pump track is a course of banked turns and features designed to be ridden by creating momentum through up and down body movements, effectively pumping. Check it out – you won’t be disappointed.

“Council together with Manly Warringah BMX Club have transformed the site into one of the most highly regarded BMX facilities in Sydney,” Mayor Regan said.

These facilities are open to the public during daylight hours, outside of the allocation to the Manly Warringah BMX Club who hold regular competitions and maintenance days at the site.

The track has been jointly funded by savings made by Council following amalgamation and the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund.
